To ensure a hitch-free Examination registration and malpractice reduction Process, the Unified Tertiary matriculation Examination Body in Nigeria introduced the Biometric system which required fingerprint scanning.

In 2012, UTME is upping their game and taking the fight to registration centers(cyber Cafe) with the introduction of  "registration Center Accreditation."
here's How it works

1. UTME 2012 Registration Centres (Cyber Cafe) are required to pay a REFUNDABLE CAUTION FEE of   N10,000 (Ten Thousand Naira) Only

2. Registration centres (Cafes) shall charge candidates a maximum of   N700 (Seven Hundred Naira) only per candidate including full registration and printing of two (2) copies of e-Registration Slip.

3. # Note that candidate has the right to report your office if you overcharge and your Access Code may be withdrawn and you also forfeit your caution fee.

4. # At the end of registration exercise, the caution fee shall be refunded to you via your bank account.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced the closing date for UTME 2012 registrations.
In a statement made by a spokesperson, JAMB urged all prospective candidates to register in time as there will be no extension of the closing date which has been set for 2nd Febuary 2012.

The UTME 2012 will hold nationwide on Saturday, 24th of March, 2012.
Remember to register at authorized Cafe's Only as stated above.

If you're one of the accredited registration centers for the ongoing UTME 2012 and you're encountering problems with registering students - Read this!

There are two methods you can use to register candidates:

1. UTME Offline Biometric and data capture:
The offline Biometric capture process requires the following steps:-
 

• Visit http://www.jamb.org.ng/Unifiedtme/pre-Registration.aspx and download the Prerequisites, Finger print Scanner driver for your device, Jamb Fingerprints Application and the READ ME Doc.
  (NOTE:Choose appropriate download for 32-Bit Machine or 64-Bit Machine - Right-click My Computer >> Select 'Properties' to confirm if you're using a 32 or 64 bit machine.)
• Open the Read Me doc and follow the clear instructions 

How to get JAMB UTME 2011 Offline License

Ngbuzz recommends you use the Online registration which doesn't require a license - here's how:
2. ONLINE biometric finger print data capture
To be free from the offline registration Long installation Process - you can simply register candidates Directly on the Jamb UTME 2012 website NO LICENSE REQUIRED!!! as Java automatically detects Finger Print hardware.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 - MUST NOT BE A CRACKED VERSION
• Updated JAVA Installation - Download Java 6 Here
  (NOTE: Even if you already have Java Installed - confirm that it is UPDATED!! see How: )
         START>> CONTROL PANEL>> open JAVA>>click UPDATE TAB >> select UPDATE NOW
• Download and install Finger Print scanner Driver for your scanner
  
  • DigitalPersona  -    All DigitalPersona.zip (32-bit)    UareU.zip (64-bit)
  
  Uninstall all previous finger print driver, java module before attempting a fresh install.. Reboot also recommended - Some say a fast connection is required but even slow Glo EDGE can run the online registration.
