Nigeria's Finance minister, and arrowhead of the controversial fuel subsidy removal - Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has vowed to resign her appointment as Minister if the Federal government bows to pressure and rescind its decision on subsidy. sources  hinted that Okonjo- Iweala got infuriated when a flank of ministers expressed reservation at the timing and perceived illegality of the move. Her strongest backer at the meeting was Petroleum minister, Deziani Allison-Madueke.
At the meeting we heard that President Goodluck Jonathan called for contributions, and allowed everyone to express themselves.

He also expressed worry at the spate of protests, and violence that trailed the decision.
Some of those who spoke against the decision at the Federal executive council meeting, insisted that the timing which coincided with the Boko Haram menace could spell disaster in the nearest future.
