How to add "READ MORE..." on Blogger (BlogSpot) Posts - SEO tips

Posting the Full content of your blog post in the home page may not be such a good idea if you update your blog often. It is good blogging practice to post Topics and a brief excerpt of the story including a link at the bottom to read the full story - this will give your readers more options to choose from topics listed without scrolling endlessly.

Adding a link to the Full story in your blog also serves as relevant INTERNAL BACK-LINKS

Users of Blogspot in the past who wanted post only a summary or first paragraph of a story with a Link to the full page had to manually Edit their HTML template to enable the "Read More..." feature. Good News!! That long process is not required anymore because http://Blogger.com has Added the feature to Edit tools.

The Blogspot feature that enables authors to cut the story short for the homepage is called "Jump Break." It is enabled by default on the New Blogger interface as shown in the diagram below.

How to Use Jumb Break in BlogSpot Post:
To get you started -
1. Enter "Compose Mode"
2. Simply type your article in full, and where you want the Blogger jump Break to appear - Click the "Insert Jump Break" Button.
3. A line appear indicating where the post will be cut.
Thats about it.. Publish your post and see how it looks.

Problems with Read More not appearing??

ERROR #1
You are able to truncate the posts, but the "read more" link is not visible on the homepage:
In this case, you have to edit your template. So simply follow these instructions:
Log in to Blogger
Go to "Layout" -> "Edit HTML" and select "Expand Widget Templates"

Now find this code in the template:

And immediately BELOW/AFTER that code, add this code:

   

Code: [Select]
