Google Rich snippet Missing required field entry-title, update and hCard errors:

I Hate Errors, Warnings and things not working the way they should, particularly when it could have negative effects on my Search Engine optimization effort

I'm talking about Google's rich Snippet tool  used by webmasters to check that structured markup data(Date, Author, Rating etc) is being parsed and correctly displayed in search results.


This is really not important except you want Author Name, Picture, Date of article and Other details to show in Google search.

Date, Author rich snippet correctly parsed

Some blogs may find the following errors reported by rich snippet tool:

• Warning: Missing required field “entry-title”. 
• Warning: Missing required field “updated”. 
• Warning: Missing required hCard “author”.

Solution 1 to these problems is to remove the snippets reporting errors: hfeed and hentry from template.

• Login Blogger Dashboard, Template >> Backup >>Download a copy of your template incase you need to revert the changes you're about to make.
• Click Template > Edit HTML > Expand template by checking the Box
• Now use CTRL + F to search for hentry
   You will find  <div class='post hentry'> and <div class='post hentry  uncustomized-post-template'>
• Remove hentry from both so that you get  <div class='post'> and <div class='post  uncustomized-post-template'>

Solution for - Rich snippet tool reports a warning: Missing required field "updated"

• Find this code
   <a class='timestamp-link' expr:href='data:post.url' rel='bookmark' title='permanent link'><abbr class='published' expr:title='data:post.timestampISO8601'><data:post.timestamp/></abbr></a>
  
• Change with this one
   <a class='updated' expr:href='data:post.url' rel='bookmark' title='permanent link'><abbr class='updated' expr:title='data:post.timestampISO8601'><data:post.timestamp/></abbr></a>

The above solutions didn't remove the Missing required field "updated" error for my Blogger default template: i still got the error in rich snippet tool.


Here's what worked for me:
Adding this code to the body of each post seems to solve the problem
<span class="updated">july 16, 2012</span>  (Replacing with correct article date:)


Looking for a way to permanently Paste this code in Dashboard>> settings>> Post comment>> Post template >> Add ..... SO it can automatically grab current date from the Post?
Anyone know how to do this?


The Third hCard error can also be solved by verifying Google Publisher Authorship on your blog.
I still don't know why Blogger would give us themes that contain errors...
NOTE: This can be ignored this but, while writing good content and having problems showing up on search, one has to investigate and cover all loopholes.
