PayPal Finally launched in Nigeria. New

All the bickering, pleas and petitions signed over the years could not get one of the worlds leading Online payment system to change it's mind about denying services to Nigeria and several nations like it - touted to be the most corrupt and internationally know for Online fraud.

In a surprising move, Rupert Keeley - the executive in charge of the EMEA region of PayPal said their service will be extended to 10 countries including Nigeria which was recently recognised as the fastest growing economy in Africa.

What does this mean
More Nigerians are embracing the electronic payment systems and cashless policies but there are security concerns when shopping online or offline is still high. This is where Paypal comes in.
Users of paypal in Nigeria can now to shop from their favourite Local or international Online retail stores without exposing their private Payment information (credit/debit card details).

Shopping on ebay will now be hassle free.

From Tuesday 17th June, you can rush off to Paypal.com and register for a Personal or Business account.
Please note that a Credit/Debit card activated for Online transactions (GT-Bank Naira MasterCard with Online Banking and Token device) will be required to complete the registration and activate your account.

After successful account creation, A test charge of less that $2 will be made to the card to verify ownership.
You will be required to Check your card transaction charges using Online Transaction report or Monthly report for a 4 Digit Transaction code which should be entered into your paypal card settings - Doing this will lift all limitations currently in place.
NOTE: You can only send money from your paypal account from Nigerians - i.e pay for goods and services.
Options to receive / withdraw and merchant services are yet to be added.
