In Nigeria, Hike in price of petroleum products always have a direct effect on means of transportation. If you haven't traveled locally in the last few days, then you should know that our local airline operators have increased air fares by over 50%, mostly on busy routes like Lagos-Abuja and Lagos-Port Harcourt.

A one-way ticket that used to cost about N24, 000 is now N36, 000. The increase was effected on Saturday July 16. Their reason? The airlines are blaming the increase on the scarcity and hike in the pump price of aviation fuel which now sells N190 per litre.
Our major export is crude Oil, yet prices continue to rise to the roof.
