This is to notify those of you who have not done your Biometric Verification Number Enrollment registration yet, that you still have the chance to register because the Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the deadline for Biometric Verification Number Enrollment from June 30th, 2015 to October 31st, 2015.

To register,  visit any UBA Business Office near you and register. While for those of you who have registered already with other banks,  should simply dial the short code *919*6# from your phone with the registered number  for SMS alert, enter the 11 digits BVN number that will be given to you in the space provided and send. You can also visit any UBA Business Office to submit your BVN to enable your  bank account to be linked to the UBA Business Office or for them to send an email to

Please remember to include the following:

  • Your BVN
  • Account number
  • Account name
  • Duly signed written instructions

How To Confirm Your BVN Via USSD Code
It's very easy and stress-free it save you the stress of going all the way to Bank. To confirm your Bank Verification Number Via USSD Code simply Dial *565*0# minimum of #10 will be deducted from your mobile network

Also, in case you receive any notification requesting you to register/update/link your BVN online, please do not do so, as such is not from UBA.

To all GTbank Customers who have don their Bank Verification Number (BVN), GTbank PLC is forewarning It's customers if he/she receive an e-mail prompting you to click on a link to update your BVN in case you receive such an e-mail do not hesitate to delete such e-mails encouraging you to update your account online or requesting for your BVN details.

Please note that BVN enrollment can only be conducted on any GTBank Branch in Nigeria, you can also link your BVN to your GTBank account via the internet banking platform.

GTBank staffs will never call It's customers or send an e-mail requesting he/she to update your BVN VIA a link or phone, in case you receive calls or e-mail kindly report or forward the mail to

BVN Registration ends today and the CBN has stated that account transaction restrictions that will be applied to only Online transactions for those who have not updated there BVN number in their bank accounts.
This means you will still be able to carry out over the counter withdrawals, transfers and deposit.

Not being able to perform  ATM / online transactions is creating a sense of panic fast spreading in banking halls as long lines show up for BVN registration / update.

To resolve this problem, Banks are now encouraging customers to utilize online channels for BVN update.
If you've obtained your BVN from one bank, you still need to present the BVN number for linking to your other bank accounts and this is what can be done online by yourself.
NOTE: New BVN registrations cannot be done online.

Linking your BVN to First Bank Online
Got your BVN number from another bank? Visit the First Bank Nigeria Online BVN Update Link Enter your name, account information and BVN Number to update.

Linking your BVN to United Bank for Africa (UBA) Online
You can also link BVN number to your UBA account through this link, UBA BVN Online Update form without having to visit the bank.

BVN Linking to GTBank online can be done by visiting the GTBank BVN  Online Update form.
Those who have activated GTBank Internet Banking Platform and obtained a Token device can also add their BVN Number from the account menu.
- Login to Gtbank Online,  Click "Self Service" on the menu and select BVN Linker.
- Enter the required information and submit.

Bank Verification Number (BVN) is a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) initiative  to protect your accounts from unauthorized access, reduce fraudulent activities to the minimum and secure your data from theft and damage.

It is an initiative of the CBN to give you a unique identity that can be  verified from across all Nigerian Banks and thus strengthening the security and financial standing of banking system transactions.

The Registration Process for Acquiring your BVN.

  • Visit any branch of the bank you have an account with, then you collect the BVN registration form and fill it.
  • Submit the completed form and present yourself to an official at your bank who would use biometrics (your photograph and fingerprints) and transfer all information in a computer data base. Your signature will be captured electronically also in the data system.
  • Your Bank Verification number (BVN) will then be sent to you via SMS or email within a day or two.
  • A BVN identification card with a computer chip bearing your embedded personal information will be issued to you at your branch bank.
BVN registration exercise is mandatory for all individual customers and the registration must be completed on or before Oct 31, 2015.
 Failure to do this before the deadline, you may not be able to do any financial transactions in any bank in the Nigerian banking system as your fingerprint wiil be required for confirmation.
