Are you aspiring to serve as an officer in the Nigerian Army? Here is your chance. The Nigerian Army is now inviting applications from eligible Nigerians who want to get commission into the Nigerian Army (NA) as Short Service Combatant (SSC) Commission officers and Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) officers. Entry is open to both civilians and serving military personnel. But only serving military personnel sponsored by any of the Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces to civil institutions shall be considered.

Terms of Service in the Armed Force For SSC
•   Short Service Combatant Commission Officers will be granted for 10 years. Six of your serving years will be on active renewable after that a period up to 3 years. No extension is allowed the ninth year of commission except conversion to Regular Combatant where applicable.
•   Starting with the rank of a Second Lieutenant for officer cadet who successfully completes his or her military training.
•   No automatic conversion to regular. It is based on availability of vacancy and other criteria that are or will be in force from time to time.
•   Graduating officer cadets must sign an acceptance on the terms and conditions governing the SSC before they will be commissioned into the Nigerian Army.
•    The reckonable period of service will be based on the date of commencement of cadet training of both civilian and military personnel entrants.

Terms of Service for DSSC
•   DSSC Successful Applicants will be granted for 10 years, for an initial probation period of 3 years, renewable yearly for another period of 7 years. Direct Regular Commission may be granted on conversion after 3 years as a commissioned officer.
•   All shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo an initial military training.
•   Successful officer cadets who complete the training shall be given the rank of Lieutenant with no advantage of seniority except for fully registered Medical Doctors, Lawyers and holders of doctorate degree in fields relevant to individual Service who will be commissioned in the same rank but with 3 months seniority.

How To Apply For The Short Service Combatant (SSC)
•   Registration starts from 14 May 2014.
•   All application is to be carried out online.
•   Purchase a PayChoice PIN Code from any branch of First Bank within the country with N2,500 as payment for Application Fee.
•   Visit and logon the official E-Application portal of the Nigerian Army officer website.
•   Select 'Short Service Combatant (SSC)' or Direct Short Service Combatant (DSSC).
•   Click on Register
•   Fill in the required details and also your PIN Code.
•   When you are done proceed and click on to validate your PIN.
•   When your validation is successful, you will be redirected to the login page.
•   Enter your Username and Password. Then click Login to begin filling the forms, upload documents and passport as required.
Note: you are to carefully complete this section online and upload all necessary documents stated in the general instructions.  Print out a copy of your online generated photo-card on completion of their application. If successful you will be required to present your photo-card to the selection board during the interview.

All applications must be submitted not later than 24  June 2014.
